President Clinton to Receive Honorary Doctorate From FAMU

It has been announced that Former President Bill Clinton will be receiving an honorary Doctorate of Humane letters from Florida A&M University (FAMU) President James H. Ammons at the spring 2009 commencement exercise. The FAMU Board of Trustees meet to raise the issue and the board unanimously approved the recommendation.


President Ammons commented on the topic. “We are honored to present President Clinton with a doctorate of humane letters from FAMU," "His years of service to our country and selfless service in the fight against HIV/AIDS, global warming and economic opportunity have made him more than a suitable nominee for this honor.”

Clinton has been busy since his time out of office "commenced". He has dedicated himself to philanthropy and public service through his foundation , the "William J. Clinton Foundation". He combined power with former President Bush with relief and recovery efforts following the tsunami in Southeast Asia, and was at the forefront of the fundraising efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
