Hope, Change, and.....Prosper

Citizens, Great News

President Obama has had one hell of a first 100 days but enough about that. Dick Cheney can get in a car with Rush Limbaugh and drive into the Hudson for all I care. They no longer have anybearing on my life.

In Important news, like all good Americans, President Obama loved Star Trek. He had the following to say in an interview with Newsweek on Air Force One

(from this desk oddly enough)

"NW:And the last movie you saw?

POTUS: Now, movies I've been doing OK [with] because it turns out we got this nice theater on the ground floor of my house … So Star Trek, we saw this weekend, which I thought was good. Everybody was saying I was Spock, so I figured I should check it out and—[the president makes the Vulcan salute with his hand].

NW: Very good.
POTUS: Yes, absolutely.

NW:Did you watch that when you were growing up?
POTUS:I used to love Star Trek. You know, Star Trek was ahead of its time. There was a whole—the special effects weren't real good, but the storylines were always evocative, you know, there was a little commentary and a little pop philosophy for a 10-year-old to absorb.

NW:A lot of U.N. stuff.
POTUS:Yes, exactly, right."

Evening Citizens,

Earlier today, Alex Sink our state CFO announced she wants Charlie's job in 2010. We have been waiting to see where "Good Time Charlie" was going to throw his name and with his announcement yesterday to go for the Senate seat, Sink made her decision today.Sink decided awhile ago that she didn't want to go for the Senate seat that is currently held by Mel Martinez. Every time I have had the pleasure of either talking with or hearing CFO Sink speak, It has been nothing short of a learning experience that I gain so much knowledge from. In my opinion, she would be the best candidate for Governor. So Citizens, My final words for you, when it comes to the future of Florida all I can hope is that we "Sink baby Sink". That being said as well as her respect to small counties, her friendship to Jefferson County and her obvious ability to take charge and lead, I am pleased to give the Rated R Revolution's 2010 gubernatorial endorsement to Alex Sink.

And they ask why Religion is getting harder to believe

Afternoon Citizens,

Now I know I usually write about stories that involve Florida but this one was too annoying to pass up.

Read this First:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090508/ap_on_re_us/us_school_dance_flap

As a former one year student of a Christian school and a current listener of Rock music, I am firmly behind the student in this part. See here in lies the problem with this story, I don't care what you sign in the school house, It does not consist of what you do outside of class. You are not under their supervision and Should not be required to live your everyday life by their rules. Going to any prom is a high lite in any high school SENIOR'S career. I expect nothing less than him going out to prom and having a blast. I hate it when people of the church think they can tell me how to live my life. Now I may not be the most church going person in the world but I do believe, (if you want to go down this road which you obviously do) this is what Jesus calls a test of faith. If going to prom and drinking and sex is going to send people straight to Hell, Not passing Go, and not collecting $200.00. I don't believe you can fully comprehend how many people are going to Hell without your brain melting. Its called Free Will and God gave it to us. I will leave you with this, I listen to what the man upstairs tells me in his Autobiography. However, I will NOT believe the way Man interprets it. I live my life the best way I can and I will be judged for it. Thats all I need to know.

Our Lt. Governor obviously thinks he is a "Smooth Operator"

Evening Citizens.

Ok Citizens,

First I would like to thank the Lt. Governor for being apart of the stories that I wrote that earned me an "A" in my journalism class. See just as I thought he would learn his lesson, He has to go and do something stupid like this. Well, since he cant fly the states "2nd Family" in the State airplane, lets use the state vehicles to transport the fam to parties. THATS A BRILLIANT IDEA AND NOBODY WILL EVER FIND OUT. Wrong.

See Citizens, here is my problems. In a time where we as a State are facing finical hard times, Our leadership is out depleting State funds on birthday parties for Lobbyists in a different State. Obviously the Republican leadership in this State has given us the ultimatum and it is not looking good for us as tax payers. See, I don't mind creating programs that help Kids in the state because we always want our Kids to do better than we have. I support creating programs for Veterans both disabled or not because they have shown that they care. There are many different positive things we can Raise Taxes for that I personally wouldn't mind for the betterment of my State. However, when my money goes to the Lt. Governor partying and I have be at home studying for finals, that kinda pissed me off.

Thats odd, I just got an I.M. from the State GOP Party.
" Dear Scott,
Please be aware that we are giving you and your kind an ultimatum.
Sink or swim, either way we aren't helping. Good Luck Fuckers
Florida GOP Leadership "

Well I'll be damned,

Trooper drove Lt. Gov. Kottkamp to Atlanta concert for lobbyist's birthday

TALLAHASSEE — At a time when he faces an ethics complaint over state-paid travel, Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp had a state trooper drive him and his family to suburban Atlanta last weekend for a surprise birthday party for a Tallahassee lobbyist.

In a state-owned vehicle, Kottkamp and his wife joined lobbyist Steve Metz and family members at a Saturday night concert in Peachtree City, Ga., featuring soft-rock singer Kenny Loggins.

Kottkamp said the taxpayer-funded drive was legitimate and noted that the law requires the Florida Highway Patrol to provide security protection for him 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"It doesn't matter if it's a public or private event. They're there to provide safety and security, whether it's the governor or for me," Kottkamp said. "If I'm traveling, whether it's state business or not, if they're going to be providing meaningful security, it's going to be all the time."

FHP spokesman Col. Ernesto Duarte said the law is clear: "We go where he goes and we take our mission very seriously."

Kottkamp said he paid for his hotel room out of his own pocket, while the trooper's one-night hotel stay of $106 will be charged to taxpayers. Duarte said public money wasn't used to buy a concert ticket for the trooper.

The lieutenant governor described Metz as a good friend. Metz is registered to represent 34 clients before the executive branch, including the Florida Bar, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and Walt Disney World as well as parimutuels, pharmaceutical firms and financial companies.

"It was a special day for him," Kottkamp said. "His family specifically asked that I be there." Metz said: "He's a very good, close friend. My daughter invited him."

Clearwater resident David Plyer filed an ethics complaint against Kottkamp in February following media reports that the lieutenant governor charged more than $400,000 in airplane travel during his first two years in office. The complaint has cleared its first hurdle, a step known as legal sufficiency.

Kottkamp's political future could soon be at a crossroads. If Gov. Charlie Crist drops a re-election bid to run for the U.S. Senate, and Attorney General Bill McCollum runs for governor, Kottkamp may run for attorney general.

Kottkamp said that last July he began flying less and driving more to save taxpayers' money. The trooper assigned to protect him has charged more than $62,000 in travel expenses over the past two years in addition to his $74,000 salary.

Records released Wednesday show that in the first two years of the Crist/Kottkamp administration, Kottkamp's office ranked second only to Crist's in taxpayer-funded air travel, despite the lieutenant governor's light schedule and few duties.

The Department of Management Service said that from January 2007 through December 2008, Kottkamp's office charged the state $722,101. Crist's office charged $972,332.

Questions over Kottkamp's frequent flights between Tallahassee and his hometown of Fort Myers prompted some legislators to consider selling the state's King Air 350 prop plane.

But Sen. Carey Baker, R-Eustis, who oversees the aircraft pool's budget, said legislators decided against that for now.

Musicians want radio stations to pay to play tunes

Evening Citizens,

Here is something that is really pissing me off. Read and I will explain after:

"Sheryl Crow, will.i.am, Herbie Hancock and other entertainers on Tuesday urged Congress to force radio stations to pay performers when their music is broadcast.

Satellite radio, Internet radio and cable TV music channels already pay fees to performers and musicians, along with songwriter royalties. AM and FM radio stations do not pay performers' royalties, just songwriters.

"People deserve to be paid when somebody else uses their property," Hancock said.

He and the other musicians, including Dionne Warwick and Patti LaBelle, appeared at a news conference on Capitol Hill on behalf of the musicFIRST Coalition. The group is pushing legislation that would require radio stations to pay musicians royalties similar to those paid to songwriters.

The National Association of Broadcasters, which opposes the measure, said a fee would put thousands of radio jobs at risk. The association also argues that stations drive listeners to buy music and concert tickets.

"NAB welcomes an honest debate over whether radio stations or the record labels have historically been a 'better friend' to musicians," Dennis Wharton, the organization's executive vice president, said in a written statement.

Hancock said people tune in to the radio because of the music.

"Just as radio promotes music, music promotes radio," he said.

Lawmakers in the House and Senate have introduced bills that would make radio stations pay the artists when their songs get airtime.

Advocates say the bill accommodates smaller commercial stations, which could pay $5,000 a year. Public radio, college stations and other noncommercial stations could pay $1,000. Larger stations' rates would be set through a government regulatory board, which would determine the fair market price for the use of the songs. The smaller stations could also choose to have their rates set by the board.

Warwick said she hasn't been compensated while her songs played around the world for 48 years.

"I think now is about time that I do get paid," she said."

Ok Citizens Please allow me to explain why this is complete and utter bullshit. As a member of the Radio Community, let me assure you that it is hard times in the radio business, meaning Layoffs left and right. As far as I am concerned, this is just greedy artists that are looking to squeeze another dime out of a source that has created them.

Herbie Hancock said that "Just as radio promotes music, music promotes radio,", Horse shit! If it wasnt for radio Herbie, Nobody today would know who you are. You should be so lucky that Chris Farley (R.I.P.) mentioned you in Tommy Boy! Radio has done nothing but Skyrocket 99% of all popular musicians.

Dionne Warwick claimed she hasn't been compensated while her songs played around the world for 48 years, and that "I think now is about time that I do get paid,". Guess what,If you're music has been played around the world for 48 years, I would put my paycheck down (Which is from a radio station) THAT YOU HAVE BEEN GETTING PAID!

Will.I.am- You are already on my shit list for being an accessory to murder of one of the suppose to be greatest movies of the summer, Wolverine so you need to back off right now! Without Fergie you music career is going to die a long and horrible death and unfortunately you bringing me along for the ride.

Citizens, I agree that you should get paid what you are owed. I think this is overstepping your boundaries. When you get charged 300.00 dollars for 2 Brittany Spears tickets or 100.00 tickets a piece for Earth Wind and Fire, that is crap. I severely doubt any of these artist are hurting for money and if they are, that is their own damn fault for squandering away their small fortune when they had it. I will end it with the following quote from my mother that I always heard growing up, " Failure to properly prepare on you part does not constitute an emergency on mine."

Destructibly Pissed,
FuRyan
